Chess genius, 15, on Russia’s rich list

The annual of Russian Forbes rich list reads like a who’s who of Rublyovskoye shosse, Moscow’s wealthiest drag, and London’s Belgravia. At the very top of the list are old favourites: Mikhail Prokhorov, Oleg Deripaska, Alisher Usmanov, Roman Abramovich.

Deni, the son of the Ziya Bazhaev, the late Chechen businessman, and co-owner of his father’s oil and gold extraction company, Alliance Group, along with his uncle Musa who helps run the business and ranks one spot below his nephew at 113 on the Forbes list.

Today Deni’s wealth is estimated by Forbes at $900m, and according to Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda he’s something of a boy genius. At 12 years-old he scored 148 on an IQ test – well above the 100-115 average. He also plays chess and is one of the best students at Moscow’s economic school, the paper says.
